Abstract

Keeping hands clean through improved hand hygiene is one of the most important steps to avoid getting sick and spreading germs to others. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of structured teaching programme and demonstration of practice regarding hand washing among school aged children, following teaching and demonstration, posttest was assessed on day 7. The calculated mean and standard deviation of pre test and posttest knowledge scores were 7.4, 1.68 and 16.4, 2.27 respectively. The mean and standard deviation of pretest and posttest practice scores were 6.5, 1.11 and 17.9, 1.71 respectively. The results revealed that there was a significant improvement in the knowledge and practice.
