Abstract

Newborn babies constitute the foundation of life. The ill effects of diapers are most common in newborn and infant. The study assessed the knowledge regarding ill effects of diaper use among mothers of infants at urban community health center, Villapuram. The study was conducted using quantative non experimental descriptive research design and non-probability convenient sampling technique. Data were collected by using a structured knowledge questionnaire and five point Likert scale. The study findings revealed that, majority (90%) of the mothers have inadequate knowledge, most of the mothers (67.4 %) had unfavorable attitude regarding ill effects of diaper use. There was a positive correlation between total score of knowledge and total score of attitude r = 0.73 (p<0.001).There is need to repeat and highlight awareness program to improve the knowledge and attitude of the mothers of infants regarding ill effects of diaper use.
