Abstract

Oral cavity is known to be the reservoir for pathogens to grow and thrive. A Quantitative Pre experimental one group pre test post test design was used to evaluate the effectiveness of oral hygiene on dry mouth among 40 children with Nasogastric tube. Pretest was conducted using Modified Beck Oral assessment scale, then performed oral hygiene three times a day for three consecutive days followed by that post test was conducted. The findings revealed that there is a significant difference between pre and post test level of dry mouth and the ‘t’ value was 23.98, which is significant at P <0.001 level. Hence the oral hygiene was effective in reducing the dry mouth among children with Nasogastric tube.
