Abstract

Low birth weight is a valuable public health indicator of maternal health, nutrition, health care. An experimental study was conducted to assess the effectiveness of Kangaroo mother care versus Swaddling among the low birth weight neonates. The study proved statistically that there was a significant difference between the post test levels of Physiological, Behavioral and Attachment behavior scores respectively of Kangaroo mother care('t'= 19.05, 22.06 and 27.284 and P<0.000), compared to swaddling group. Hence it was concluded that Kangaroo mother care was found to be a much more effective method for the care of Low birth weight neonates.
