Abstract

Children and adolescents all the time hold much importance in this world. Orphan children were more likely to be emotionally needy, insecure and poor, exploited, abused, neglected and may have low self-esteem and lack confidence, whereas non-orphans received love, affection, protection, guidance and support from the parents. Descriptive design was used. The study was conducted among 120 children (60- orphan and 60-non-orphan). Samples were selected using a non probability convenient sampling technique. A structured self-administered questionnaire was used to collect the data. The results showed that children had both emotional and behavioural problems regardless their status as orphan and non-orphan. The levels of the problems were almost alike in orphan and non-orphan children.
