Abstract

The present investigation was carried out to gather information on crossability pattern and to develop suitable hybrids through controlled crossing. The per cent successful crosses ranged between 10.00 to 50.00 per cent for different crosses and were found to be maximum in PN 227 × Austree. Maximum germination percentage 59.05 per cent was found in J 799 × NZ 1140 and in which per cent successful cross ranged between 30.86 to 59.05 per cent. Similarly, survival per cent ranged between 27.67 to 56.92 per cent and was found to be maximum in J 799 × J 795. Results on crossability among diffent genotypes revealed higher crossability for intra-specific crosses as compared to inter-specific crosses.
