An experiment was conducted to study the effect of pre-sowing treatments on seed germination of Asparagus racemosus in seed germinator after giving pre-sowing treatments at Dr Y S Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni, Solan, HP. It was found that seeds of A. racemosus possess seed dormancy which requires appropriate pre-sowing treatment. Seeds treated with GA3 300 mg/l for 4 hrs and H2SO4 (10%) for 30 minutes gave better result than the rest of the presowing treatments. Seeds treated with conc. H2SO4 (10%) for 30 minutes recorded maximum (61.11%) germination. Tuberous roots are the economic part of the plant, therefore, for multiplication of plant, instead of roots, seeds treated with H2SO4 (10%) for 30 minutes can be used.
