Armed conflict affects people in various ways and it is generally observed that women's sufferings are not accorded adequate attention while assessing the impact of armed conflict as well as in the peace building process. In this paper, existing literature on Half widows in Kashmir has been systematically revised with the aim of studying the gendered aspect of Armed Conflict situation in Kashmir. The relationship between socio-cultural factors and women in midst of armed conflict situations is intended to be studied with the help of existing literature. The research gaps have been identified in the limited studies done on half widows and this calls for a conscious probe into the social milieu of women who are indirect victims of enforced disappearance.
