The obvious correlation between the conditions of the life of a person and the environment in which this person lives has long waited to be discovered and reflected in a normative form. Human rights may foster the protection of the environment and the environmental law may to some extent, protect human beings as an element of nature. However the possibility to use human rights instruments to protect the environment is limited by the anthropocentrism of human rights, the lack of proper legal definitions of basic concepts connected with the right to the environment and the fact that both systems lack not a normative background, but an effective system of providing protection.
