Abstract

Instead of accepting all genders, our society views gender as a binary system. Generally speaking, there are three genders: male, female, and transgender. If we go back in the history, transgender as gender are recognized in every culture, be it Hinduism or Islam; existence of Transgender is mentioned in epic Ramayana, They played role in the royal courts of Muslim rulers as well. In this era, where Hon'ble Supreme Court has legalized the third gender, as a recognized gender it is obligatory to recognize Transgender just like other gender. For accepting them and understanding them, firstly we need to know about them. This paper focuses on the awareness level among youth about Transgender of the age group between (25 years-30 years). The intended descriptive study was carried out at the University of Lucknow in Lucknow. A pre-designed questionnaire was used to collect data, with the emphasis placed on knowledge, awareness, feelings, and societal acceptance of the transgender.
