The socio-economic condition of the transgender community in India is extremely dire; in light of this, the Government of India has initiated various welfare programs aimed at integrating them into the social mainstream. Consequently, the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019, was an important initiative. This research study was conducted to assess the knowledge and attitudes of the transgender community in India regarding the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019. Employing a quantitative research approach, data were collected from 102 transgender individuals. The findings of this study reveal a significant lack of awareness within the community concerning the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019. The recommendations presented at the conclusion of this research emphasize that if the very individuals for whom this legislation was framed remain uninformed about it, extending its benefits to them becomes an exceedingly difficult task. Therefore, there is an urgent and paramount need to launch awareness programs specifically designed to enhance knowledge and shape positive attitudes regarding India's Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019.
