Abstract

Cultural diplomacy, as the initiation of this cultural exchange, is not secondary to political diplomacy, but rather functions as an intrinsic aspect of it. Today cultural diplomacy as a form of “soft power” has become significant. Cultural diplomacy is not defined simply as a government's foreign cultural policy: cultural diplomacy is a practice of governments, rather than a statement of how they approach international relations. This paper discusses the concept of culture diplomacy and its role in Indian foreign policy. This paper analyses the state sponsored cultural diplomacy pursed by the Indian government.
