Abstract

Gram swaraj was the dream of our Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi. Decentralization of power is the foundation of democracy. In his view it will strengthen the belief of a common man in democracy. PRI is the basic institute of democracy at village level. Many central and state government programmes are being implemented with the help of Panchayats. Now a days it is frolicking crucial role in development of villages. This paper examines the role of PRI in development of Scheduled Castes with the help of secondary sources and personal observation in regards to PRI working at villages. It is a reality check of “Of the people by the people and for the people Institute” in context of marginalized section. It's an important concern in case of mainstreaming of marginalized people where PRI can play a vital role.
