Abstract

Rizwanur Rehman, a young boy's body was found in the railway track in Dum Dum area of Kolkata. He was a victim of inter-class and inter-religious marriage. The subsequent days saw an angry Kolkata demanding justice for Rizwanur. This was an unprecedented civil society awakening in the city in the post-independent period. In the following paragraph the author tries to make an academic analysis of the event by providing a theoretical basis to the occurrence and its consequences from the view of social scientist.
