Abstract

Adolescence (10–19 years) is a phase of dynamic transition from ‘childhood’ to ‘adulthood’. It is a crucial period of everyone's life marked by various physical, psychological and behavioural changes. This period is a phase of storm and stress for girls as they lack in information on bodily developments, reproductive and sexual health issues and a support system in their family. Adolescent girls are the assets of any nation as they are direct reproducers of future generations. In India a huge part adolescent population is suffering from physical, psychological and reproductive health morbidities. This paper aims to find out common health problems of adolescent girls and explore the health seeking behavior of adolescent girls of rural areas of Lucknow.
