Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana (RSBY) has been launched in the year 2008 by Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India to implement financial stability from catastrophic health expenses to below the poverty line (BPL) households in India. Health care finance is a part of finance that benefits patients and health care beneficiaries pay for medical expenses in the short and long duration. Nowadays, there are a number of insurance schemes, each designed for several populations or goals. This scheme is highly useful to the BPL families with the objective that all BPL families to get the quality medical care for treatment of diseases including hospitalization and surgery through the allotted networks of health care providers. Karnataka has been a sign for these state-supported insurance schemes since its inception. The purposes this current paper is to assess the implantation and to reveal the current status of RSBY in Karnataka focusing rate of money spent, awareness, enrollment, and utilization. This paper provides an overview of state insurance schemes supporting their implementation, state finances and users ’assistance with obtaining them. The present study has used secondary sources of data only.
