The voice of Ismat Chughtai appears in the world of fiction just like the small piece of stone which breaks the silence and creates an storm in the mute water of the sea in such a way that makes everyone bold and courageous to express their feelings so loudly and particularly it makes the helpless women know their personality and place in the society. As a woman, Ismat Chughtai was completely successful to present the passions, feelings and psychology of women, of which the good examples are her novels named as ‘Terhi Lakeer’ and ‘Dil Ki Duniya’. Ismat Chughtai tries to break those fetters and bands which have gripped them for centuries. She says, “Our society names the woman ‘Ardhangini’ which means a better-half and wife. So I ask then why one half i.e. husband proves to be unjust to the other half. Why is man considered superior to her and liable to reach the top of everything while the woman is considered to be confined to the boundaries fixed by her fellow mate? Ismat aimed at those abuses of the society which deprived her from all kind of pleasures.
