The Bhagavad Gita not only quenches the thirst of spiritual and ‘how to live life’ seekers but also present management and business people with valuable wisdom. This article interprets one of the slokas from the Gita and seeks to demonstrate its use and applicability in modern management practices. Gita in this slokas clearly establishes that we have only the right to perform action but the fruit of that action is not in our hand. It asserts we should not even think about the fruit of our action.
Similarly present organizations should be process oriented and not result oriented. If we master the process, more the chances of positive results of our actions/efforts. The concepts of Kaizen, business process re-engineering, continuous process improvement are on the same lines. Organizations further needs to establish clear process models and seek perfection in them.
Process orientation does not mean not having a target. There should be clear set objectives/target. Targets are the guide post for an organization. They have their significance but the organization thinking, focus and culture should not be fixated on result orientation. Means/process standardization should be an organizations enduring quality.
