Ramcharitmanas is one of the most widely read books in Hindi literature. It is a story of the noble deeds of Lord Ram written by Goswami Tulsidas in the 16th century in a poetry format. Due to an immense interest by both, devotees as well as scholars, it continues to remain a text of great research. Though the text has about 12,800 lines, there have been limited efforts in numbering or indexing them in a scientific manner. In this paper, we present a system that provides a unique number to each line of the Ramcharitmanas. The proposed system provides several advantages over existing practices of numbering.
