In the post-globalization era, organizational development has become a major concern to survive and thrive in the highly competitive business environment. This has caused ever increasing stress for employees at workplaces. As such, while organizations have been continuously in search of evolving competitive advantage to tide over competitive business environment, on the one hand, employees have also been increasingly eager to find out ways and means to alleviate their anxieties causing stress, on the other. Spirituality at workplace has been considered as an effective solution to the above mentioned two problems experienced by organization and employees. Evidences suggest that spirituality at workplace has proved as sustainable competitive advantage driving organizational development. Integration of spirituality with business practices also alleviates employees stress as they consider work as a source to find greater meaning in work, as a spiritual path, as an opportunity to grow and to contribute one's mite to society in a meaningful way. Individuals attempt to live their values more fully in the work they do. In nutshell, spirituality at workplace helps organization and employees realize called sarve bhuta hite ratah, i. e. welfare and good of all human beings, an essential component of organizational sustainability. It is against this backdrop, the present paper, based on available evidences mainly from Indian organizations, attempts to justify the need for and importance of integrating spirituality at workplace, its key dimensions, and major challenges faced in integrating spirituality at work in Indian organizations.
