Advent of social media and its impact on virtually every materialistic and humanistic dimension is today a much debatable and relevant topic of interest. The way it has entered and flourished in our world has rendered it an inevitable phenomenon which has altered our lives both in progressive and regressive manner. From the very basic aspects of physiological requirements, passing through mental and growth needs, and even surpassing the spiritual inclination, the social media has facilitated in satisfying our various aspirations at every phase. It has been successful in fulfilling almost every level of need mentioned in the Maslow's need hierarchy. This paper seeks to explore contribution of social media in achieving self-transcendent need, the highest order need in rectified version of Maslow's pyramid. The paper analyses various characteristics of transcenders as defined by Maslow, and analyses in depth how each characteristic can be achieved through the means of different social media platforms available.
