This survey based descriptive research work aims at identifying and comparing the sources of stress, impact of stress and coping strategies among the medical laboratory technicians working in private multi specialty hospitals and diagnostic centres in Tirunelveli city, Tamilnadu, India. Both stratified random sampling and judgment sampling techniques have been administered to sample 100 respondents from both hospitals and diagnostic centres. Sources of stress have been identified and compared under four dimensions of organization related stressors, medical laboratory technicians’ specific stressors, work shift and working hour related stressors and patients and resources related stressors. Impact of stress has been identified and compared under two dimensions namely job satisfaction and health. Weighted score method has been applied to identify and differentiate sources of stress, impact of stress and coping strategies. Mean, standard deviation and coefficient of variation have been administered to find and differentiate extent of perception towards sources of stress, impact of stress and coping strategies. Kruskal Wallis test has been used to find relationship between demographic variables and sources of stress. The result has found that all dimensions of sources of stress and impact of stress have highly been perceived by medical laboratory technicians working in private hospitals than diagnostic centres.
