Influence of education in enhancing social responsibility among students: implications for social inclusion

Abstract

The purpose of the paper is to understand the influence of education on the development of social responsibility among students.

The methodology includes the data collection from all the students from AICTE approved colleges in India, especially Delhi/NCR region. About 356 respondents were collected and analyzed for the findings. The study also found the factors which influence their social awareness and contribution factors. SPSS was used to analyze the factors and variables influencing the social development of the students. Regression analysis and correlation analysis was also used to conclude the findings.

The analysis suggests that education stimulates the social responsibility of the students. Also it was also found that education helps create awareness among students for social contribution. Moreover, education helps create awareness among students for social contribution. It was also emphasised that education enhances the social sustainability of the students since they are always connecting their work with social contribution for longer sustainability.

The present study has several social and policy implications. On the basis of the study, it is found that government should introduce the subjects such as corporate social responsibility, social studentship, management in social development, and other subjects.
