Abstract

Algae from soil and other terrestrial habitats were collected and described from Almora town and its vicinities. The distribution of Algal species was related to a combination of edaphic factors and to physiological characteristics of the plant. The soil flora includes representatives from Chlorophyceae, Cyanophyceae and diatoms. In addition to soil other terrestrial habitats were tree trunks, rocks etc.
