Abstract

The relative ease in application and the comparative low cost besides effectiveness and efficiency of chemical mutagens has laid greater emphasis on their use in induced mutagensis. They have become potential tool in pant breeding programmes for inducing variabilities. In this study morpholigical effects of Sodium Azide (SA) were investigated in chickpea (Cicer arietinumL.). The treated populations showed a marked decrease in seed germination, seedling survival, plant height, number of branches, pollen fertility and 50 seeds weight.
