Effect of l -Cyhalothrin on the Metabolism of Fresh Water Fish Channa punctatus
Abstract
The effect of l-cyhalothrin was studied on some biochemical components and activities in freshwater fish Channa punctatus. The effect of exposure to sublethal concentrations (0.20 ppm and 0.15 ppm) of l-cyhalothrin was studied after exposing the fishes to this compound for a maximum period of 20 days. Biochemical changes in liver and muscles of fish were recorded at regular intervals. Exposure to l-cyhalothrin caused significant depletion in total proteins and cholesterol levels in both liver and muscles. The values of lipid components were also found decreased in exposed fishes. After statistical analysis of data it was found that these changes were dose and time dependent.
