Studies on the effect of ten edible and non-edible oils viz., sunflower, castor, mustard and mahua each at 0.5, 0.75 and 1.0 per cent concentration as seed protectants of pigeon pea against pulse beetle (Callosobruchus chinensis L.) were carried out to test their effect on oviposition at 30, 60 and 90 days after treatment. The treatments with neem, castor and karanj oils at 1.0 per cent showed significantly repellent action for egg laying by adult bruchids upto 90 days after treatment.
