The effect of spray treatment of different concentrations (1, 10 and 50m g/ml) of kinetin was studied on in vivo nitrate reductase (NR) activity and level of soluble protein in the leaves and nitronenase (N-ase) activity, leghaemoglobin content and soluble protein in the nodules ofVigna radiata. Spray of different concentrations of kinetin was given to the foliage of 15-day-old plants grown in sand culture under natural condition. Thein vivo nitrate reductase (NR) activity and level of soluble protein in the leaves and nitronenase (N-ase) activity, leghaemoglobin content and soluble protein in the nodules were measured at weekly intervals after spray. In the sprayed plants (with 10m g/ml) thein vivo NR activity in the leaves was maximum on day 7 after spray, whereas, the soluble protein was maximum on day 14 after spray. In the case of nodules the soluble protein and nitrogenease activity were maximum with 10 m g/ml kinetin on day 14 after spray, whereas, the leghaemoglobin content was maximum on day 21 after spray
