Abstract

There are many approaches in which allelopathy could be exploited for weed management. In the modern agriculture, allelopathy has a great potential in improving crop productivity, genetic diversity, maintenance of ecosystem stability, nutrient cycling and nutrient conservation, weed control, disease management and pest control. Present experiment was conducted to test the efficacy of allelochemicals extracted from the leaves ofLantana camara Linn. using various solvent systems.Bidens pilosa Linn. was treated with various extract fractions to study various growth parameters viz. carbohydrate content, protein content and chlorophyll content.
