Abstract

The present paper incorporates for the first time a qualitative and quantitative analysis of 28 unifloral honey samples of Apis cerena indica collected from all the four districts of Tripura, India during 2004–2005. Detailed pollen analysis and physico-chemical properties of these samples were studied. pH, moisture content, specific gravity, ash content, total sugar, total protein, amino acid and phenol were estimated. This type of physico-chemical and pollen analysis of the honey samples favours the possibility of utilizing the rich flora of the state for the development of apiary industry for good quality honey in the region.
