Shahjahanpur district lies in the Terai region of Upper Gangetic Plain with high state of cultivation. The vegetation comprises several plants that belonged to India and other native countries. The study reveals that exotic plants were introduced in this district both adventitiously and intentionally with food grains and seeds of economic plants. On the basis of analysis of vegetation 178 exotic species have been recognized in the district. They belong to 148 genera and 62 families. The cultivated species are 119 while wild species are 59 naturalized in the vegetation of the district. Gymnosperms and monocots are represented by 4 and 10 species respectively. Clerodendrum aculeatum Griseb, Parthenium hysterophorus L. and Salvia anthemifolia (Juss.) R.Br. ex Lessong are the recent entrants.
