Abstract

The present paper deals with phytodiversity and stratification pattern of Kuwana forest at District Balrampur. Stratification is the way in which plants of different species are arranged in different vertical layers in order to make full use of the available physical and phytological requirements. This phytodiversity rich area bears mainly dry sal forests. The main species found are Mangifera indica, Acacia arabica, Populus dellaides, Morus alba, Zizphus jujuba, TerminaJia arjuna, Madhuca indica and some Palmae plants are also common in this area. Apart from the above mentioned species many shrubs, creepers and grasses are also found in this area. These variations leads different stratification pattern in Sohelwa forest.
