Abstract

Virus infection brings about drastic changes in many physiological processes of the host cell. Altered enzyme activities are one of these changes which have been observed in a number of virus infected hosts. The present study indicates that virus infection increases the peroxidase activity in comparison to their healthy counter parts. There was a general increase in peroxidase activity of healthy and infected leaf, stem and root samples, with an increase in the age of the plant. The highest increase was observed in leaf followed by stem and root samples of healthy and infected plants. The maximum increase is associated with BGMVB infection followed by BGMM and BGMC.
