Ageratum Conyzoides L.: A Potent Ethnomedicinal Herb for Dermatological Problems

Abstract

An Ethnobotanical survey was carried out to collect information regarding the use of medicinal plants in the Nishagandha forest (Kakraha range) of a tarai District of Bahraich, U.P.. The was gathered from tribal peoples named as Phool Kumari, Pooja Chaudhary and Man kumari Chaudhary working as labour in the area, using an integrated approach of botanical collection, group discussion and interviews with questionnaire. Out of 50 collected plants, this herbaceous taxon locally called “Gandhella” by tribal people, is used in cure of some skin diseases such as cuts, leprosy, scabies and burn. The above gathered information was experimented on various people of District suffering from the aforesaid skin diseases, so as to confirm the aforesaid findings.
