A procedure has been outlined for callus induction of an important woody, aromatic and medicinal shrub Holarrhena antidysenterica Wall, through in-vitro culture of seed explants. 2,4-D used at 1.5 mgH and 2.5 mgl1 concentration was found to be most effective for callus formation. White friable type of callus was initiated in the jembryonal axis and formed along with the two cotyledonary leaves, More callus was achieved on transferring the friable callus on fresh MS medium supplemented with same concentration of 2,4-D.
