Abstract

Dark incubation of wheat primary leaves for 24 h - 96 h caused the loss of pigments, proteins and inhibition of PS II and PS I catalyzed electron transport activities due to ageing. The inclusion of either Ca2+ or A3+ protects the primary leaves from the loss of pigments, proteins and protects the electron transport from inhipition. Between two metal ions A3+ seems to be more protective in comparison with Ca2+, due to screening of more negative charges on the thylakoid membrane.
