Taxonomic Studies on the Grasses and their Distributional Behaviour in Gola Gokarannath Tehsil of Lakhimpur-Kheri District (UP)

Gola Gokarannath tehsil occupies the west corner of Lakhimpur-Kheri district. It is located between 27° 62′ and 27° 99′ N latitude and 80° 25′ and 80° 65′ E longitude. A major part of the tehsil is occupied by "Sal forest" and remaining area is an open plane with high state of cultivation. The tehsil is floristically very rich. The present paper describes grasses of Gola Gokarannath tehsil. 72 species of grasses belonging to 53 genera are enumerated and a dichotomous key to the genera of Poaceae is included. Ecological notes, phenology, local names and field numbers are provided to the species.
