New Record of Some Zygnematacae from Nepal and Bihar, India
Abstract
The present paper deals with the description of 7 taxa belonging to 3 genera of Zygenemataceae from Koshi river basin of Nepal and Bihar, India. Of these, one species of Sirogonium (S. sticticum Kuetzing) and one species of Mougeotia (M. mysorense lyengar) are the first records from the adjoining parts of Nepal and Bihar. However, a new variety Mougeotia laetevirens (A.Br.) Wottrock var. acadiana Kargupta and Ahmad here described second time. Two species of Mougeotia [Mougetia africana (G.S. West) Transeau and Mougeotia scalaris Hassall] are new records for the state of Bihar. Moreover, two species of Zygnema [Z. chalybeospermum Hansg. and Z. insigne (Hassal) Kuetzing] are being reported for the first time from Nepal.
