Abstract

Some members of family Saprolegniaceae and Blastocladiaceae, viz., Achlya dubia Coker, A. diffusa Harvey ex Johnson, Saprolegnia diclina Humphrey, Dictyuchus peudodictyon Coker & Braxton, Aphanomyces laevis de Bary, Allomyces arbuscula Butler and Allomyces sp. (Isolate-1010) isolated from the pond water and soil samples of Gorakhpur, have been studied together with their features of special interest. Isolate S-1102, isolated from a water sample, had all the typical characteristics of Saprolegniaceae, but, due to certain puzzling features it could not be assigned to the generic level and therefore, it has been critically discussed for its generic identity.
