Antimicrobial properties of aqueous and alcoholic leaf extracts of Launaea nudicaulis (Linn.) Hook. were investigated against six bacteria Bacillus subtilis, Enterobacter aero-genes, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus using the agar disc diffusion method and agar well diffusion method. The aqueous extract was found to be effective against gram-positive bacteria and alcoholic extract was reported to be more effective against gram-negative bacteria. Of all the microorganism tested the gram-positive were slightly more susceptible to the extracts than the gram-negative bacteria.
