Meiotic analysis has been made in fifteen angiospermous species {Calyptocarpus vialis Less., Cannabis sativa L., Datura innoxia P. Mill., Euphorbia geniculata Orteg., Fumaria officinalis L., Peristrophe bicalyculata (Retz.) Nees, Petunia hybrida Vilm., Psoralea corylifolia L., Rauwolfia canescens L., Salvia plebeia R. Br., Sida rhombifolia L., Solanum nigrum L., Sonchus asper (L.) Hill, Tropaeolum majus L. and Withania somnifera (L.) Dunal} from Chandigarh and nearby areas. Chromosome number, pairing behaviour, ploidy level and meiotic abnormalities have been observed. These species belong to 11 different families. Although the chromosome number varied from n=7 to n=33, but the most prevalent base number is x=7 (26.7% species).
