Effect of Moringa oleifera Leaf powder on blood glucose levels in type II diabetes mellitus patients

Abstract

Medicinal plants constitute an important source of potential therapeutic agents for diabetes. This study evaluates the effects on taking powder prepared from Moringa oleifera leaves on blood glucose levels in humans. 45 patients supplemented with Moringa powder. Results showed that blood glucose levels of subjects were significantly dropped. A mean drop of 21.72 mg/dl (FBGL) and 28.11 mg/dl (PPGL) in the blood glucose levels was observed. The results point to the benefit of using Moringa oleifera supplementation in the management of hyperglycemia.
