Biotechnology had been a close knit branch of science which was popular in ancient times but its advance version came into force when recombinant DNA technology and genetic manipulation became possible. In the present scenario, biotechnology has become the synnym of life perhaps because of its life saving researches and the development of recombinant vaccines against dreadful diseases. Present paper provides an overview on the latest status of biotechnology in agriculture, which is the backbone of green revolution and national prosperity.
