Sub-humid region is a major solanaceous vegetables growing area of our country, but with much pressure on the land holdings, limited resources availability with farmers and increased cost of agricultural inputs, it has become imperative for farmers to make optimum use of resources for realizing maximum farm returns. In case of solanaceous vegetables, it was observed that farmers were spending maximum budget of total cost of production on human labour (upto 36.85%) and least amount on machinery/bullock power (upto 11.79%), indicating the efforts needed for the adoption of farm mechanization. Results of present study also showed that despite the availability of quality seeds/hybrids in the market, numbers of farmers were still practicing the traditional/local varieties which ultimately hamper the average productivity of vegetable crops. Therefore, there is an urgent need of changing farmers ’attitude from traditional to adoption of improved production practices through various means of transfer of technologies for enhancing total production of the country.
