Abstract

An investigation on the effect of soil and foliar application of organic nutrients on yield and yield attributes of cucumber CV. Long green was carried out at the Department of Horticulture, Faculty and Agriculture, Annamalai University, Annamalai Nagar during two seasons VIZ. July-September, 2006 and Jan.-March 2007. Among the different treatments, application of FYM @ 12.5 t/ha+ vermicompost @ 2.5 t/ha along with Panchakavya 3 per cent foliar spray to cucumber CV. Long green increased the yield and yield components Viz., number of fruits (14.56), (tender) (10.89) (matured), fruit length (30.54 and 54.50 cm) of tender and matured fruit single fruit weight (50.72 and 752.07) of tender and matured fruits and fruit yield per vine, (710.70) (6792.10) of tender and matured fruit. Among the two seasons, the performance of cucumber was found to be better in season-I compared to season-II.
