Abstract

The studies were conducted to study heterosis, combining ability, gene action in indeterminate tomato by deploying line × tester methodology, involving 6 lines and 5 testers. The data were recorded on yield, number of fruits per plant, fruit weight, pericarp thickness and number of locules per fruit. Analysis of variance for combining ability exhibited significance of females and males for yield, number of fruits per plant, fruit weight and pericarp thickness. It was significant for females × males for number of fruits, yield per plant and fruit weight. Five cross combinations were identified for commercial exploitation.
