Innovative digital communication technologies promise to enhance the quality of human life, communications, commerce, entertainment, governance and promote universal economic growth. However, it is important to understand the impact of digital evolution on fundamental rights. The right to privacy and right to information are equally essential human rights in the modern day society. Both the rights complement each other well however conflict arises when there is a potential risk of unauthorized access to personal information held by various agencies. The laws and ethical practices develop over centuries. However, technology is advancing on a mounting curve. Our laws have not been successful to keep up with the pace at which technology is advancing. Objective of this paper is to study the challenges that the right to privacy is exposed to and the deficient legal reform in a globally emergent digital environment.
