Food is the basic need and a fundamental right of every human being. As the population of the world is growing at a tremendous rate, the need for the quality food is also rising. Maintenance of good health is directly linked to the quality of food one consumes, but one of the major blockages of good health is the menace of food adulteration. Food adulteration is rampant not only in India but is seen as a main problem round the globe. Humans have adulterated food to increase its longevity In India or to improve its taste since ancient times and thus poses a serious threat on the health of the poor consumers. In J&K state, there is a constant rise in food adulteration. Over 1300 cases have been registered in last 2 years which speaks volumes about this menace. The researcher in this paper has analysised the problem of food adulteration keeping in view the FSSAI Annual reports.
