Reinsurance practices in aviation

Reinsurance practice is part and parcel of aviation insurance. Aviation insurance involves a huge monetary burden on the air carrier as well the burden of heavy risks on the insurers. Aviation insurance has not yet attained enough maturity in India to bear the burden of insurance and reinsurance. For this reason, the Indian market has to look towards the west to carry these liabilities. The article is an attempt to overview the practice of reinsurance in aviation in general with a stint on Indian practices.
