Human rights and democracy: a basic enquiry from historiography to present practices

Abstract

The concept “human rights and democracy” moves through a zig zag terrain and the trajectory of history witness to that. The political philosophy which has explained the notion of rights found prominent in the writing of liberal thinker in the western world. But it is mostly observed that the system of governance, created a conducive atmosphere for blossoming the whole idea and cross the boundary to make it a universal appeal to mankind. But in its operational level, we find some shortcomings. These shortcoming must overcome to make the whole idea realized to save the humanity from the inhuman practices found in this world.
